Time and Methods
Fishing below dams with emphasis on striped bass is probably my greatest expertise. Spider rigging for Crappie and crawfish for bass is my greatest expertise on the Lakes.
Crappie:
I find Spider Rigging in both deep and shallow water to be the most productive and relaxing method of fishing for Crappie.
Deep water during pre-spawn - February 15th through April the 1st.
Shallow water - April 1st through May 10th
Casting jigs - vertical jigging, or using bobbers may be your choice.
Bass:
I find the use of crawfish to be the surest method to catch bass from April the 10th through June 30th.
Slip and drag using big shiners can be very productive in early spring, March 1st through April the 10th. Late fall - November 1st through December 10th.
Artificial - March 1st through December.
Striped Bass:
I find longer and better opportunity to catch Striped Bass below dams than any other species.
June 1st through November 1st, with excellent success between July 20th and October 15th.
Catfish:
July through December below dams.
May 1st through July 1st in Lakes.
White Bass:
Hot part of summer, July-August.
Casting or trolling.
Sauger:
Below dams August 1st through March 15th if water conditions permit.
